This impressive project caught the attention of the Royal Institute of British Architects, who presented their Worldwide Award 2005 to Chan Soo Khian.
This trendy 30-storey “loft-in-the-sky” city abode, made up of modules of two “L”-shaped interlocking volumes in its overall composition, comprises 56 split-level two and three-bedroom apartments, studios and penthouses.
The upper floor of each unit is perceived as a gallery space that overlooks the main living area at the lower level. The diagrammatic flipping of one “L” over another vertically in a typical module imples some units have entrances located at the higher floor plate of the double-volume space.
In the expression of the facade, the interlocking units are defined as L-shaped volumes, evident behind the glazed curtain-wall. Double-glazing, used wtih low-E glass, and vertical aluminium brise-soleil attached to protruding floor slabs are incorporated for climatic control.
